OK, we’re saying it – we’ve had just about enough of all-black fits on the red carpet. So, thank you to Mr Josh O’Connor for injecting a little colour play into his look for the Challengers premiere. The unexpected, but complementary palette of navy, burnt umber and white takes its cues from the vintage double-breasted cut of his suit. It also makes the whole ensemble more interesting without sacrificing sharpness.

It would be churlish to suggest that Mr Vassili Schneider now has more MR PORTER appearances under his belt than entries on IMDb. As well as factually inaccurate (by a factor of three to 33, plus a couple of shifts behind the camera). A fairer assessment would be that this up-and-coming actor also knows his way around a wardrobe. What unquestionably is under his belt is the hem of his dreamy lemon sorbet-coloured half-zip sweater, tucked as it is into his billowy jeans. It’s a neat detail that suggests a confidence with clothing. (Although also look out for him in the forthcoming adaptation of The Count Of Monte Cristo.)

Upcoming Apple TV+ series Dark Matter offers an alternative spin, aptly enough, on the many-worlds interpretation of quantum physics, with its lead – played by Mr Joel Edgerton – seemingly abducting himself. Or at least a version of his character from a parallel universe. (Which is thankfully not something Ms Gwyneth Paltrow ever faced in Sliding Doors, although we’d hope she’d have wished herself well.) All we can say with any degree of certainty is that of every possible outcome of what Edgerton could’ve worn to the premiere of his new show, this was probably the best. So be thankful that this boxy double-breasted suit jacket worn over a vest or tee with a low neckline, nicely balanced against a burly woodsman’s beard appeared in our universe.

When your girlfriend is as well-known – and venerated – as Ms Dua Lipa, there isn’t much you need to do in the sartorial department. Yet, 34-year-old British actor, Mr Callum Turner showed an outstanding example of colour coordination, matching a buttery leather bomber jacket to her, ahem, newly dyed red hair. While we can’t stop asking ourselves if the pairing was intentional, we’ll give top marks to the rest of his off-duty outfit, too, from the waffle-knit Henley to the retro basketball-inspired sneakers.

In his general appearance, there’s more than passing resemblance to I from Withnail And I about the actor and musician Mr Malcolm McRae. But here seen through the prism of Mr Bryan Ferry in his early Roxy Music pomp. Which is to say when people talk about the death of the necktie, this very much isn’t it. The trench coat, much like the hair, is all flapping about, and yet feels like it could be no other way. And there lies the key to this look: you could piece this entire outfit together exactly as McRae has done and end up resembling a fax machine salesman from the mid-1980s. That rock-star swagger, however, is all his.

When your mum is Ms Diana Ross, a certain quantity of rizz is probably guaranteed. But Mr Evan Ross was positively exuding steal-your-girl energy in LA last month. Maybe it’s the shearling-lined denim trucker jacket giving bad-boy vibes. Or is it the cleverly inverted vintage white tee and chunky jewellery? Perhaps the rolled jeans, jock socks and sneakers? It might be the combination of all these masculine tropes. Whatever it is, he’s pulling it off damn well.
