7 Logo Tops To Boost Your Signature Style

Words by Mr Jim Merrett

If you’ve got something to say, say it with your chest. That’s what we always say, with our chests. Figuratively, at least. But what if you want to say it literally, splashed across your chest? Then a logo T-shirt – rather than, say, a permanent marker – would be the right way to go about it. Wear your words wisely, we caution. Here are seven brand messages that we can align with.

01. The AMIRI logo polo shirt

The classic polo shirt gets a West Coast redux thanks to AMIRI. But you could probably have ascertained that from the varsity-style lettering across the front. Don’t think you have to play for a college team – let alone a polo team – to sport it. Just take a lesson from the designer and wear yours oversized.

02. The Cherry Los Angeles baseball jersey

The original letterman identifiers for varsity sports can be traced to the baseball diamond. So, it feels fitting that Cherry Los Angeles’ latest plunge into the archives of Americana takes this style back to its source. What we can say for sure is this: it’s a dinger.

03. The long-sleeved Jil Sander tee

There’s no messing around from Jil Sander, as you might expect from a house famed for its minimalism. Just the brand’s name in the same sans-serif typeface it first employed when it launched its menswear back in the 1990s.

04. The embroidered LOEWE T-shirt

Who says a slogan has to be screen-printed? This slim-fit cotton-jersey tee from Mr Jonathan Anderson at LOEWE features the Spanish luxury label’s logo stitched in a suitably groovy rainbow palette.

05. The very 1990s Gucci long-sleeved tee

The Gucci legacy stretches back more than a century. But this effort perhaps highlights the halcyon days of a more recent time. Namely the decade’s rave music scene, when graphic logos such as this would’ve been part of the design language from Balearic superclubs to impromptu parties off orbital motorways.

06. The trippy Casablanca printed tee

Rick Blaine claimed to have come to Casablanca for the waters. And we can believe that the output of the brand named after the city has seen its fair share of pool sides, too. This tee references the port’s architecture under the banner “The Road to Knowledge”, with giant fungi looming over.

07. The distressed Acne Studios logo T-shirt

We’ve all got a T-shirt that has been worn so many times that it becomes a second skin. Acne Studios here channels that thrift-store energy into a loose-cut tee in a soft organic cotton-blend jersey that has the feel of an old friend. And the “button” logo should remind you of your go-to jeans.
