When serial NYC restaurateur Mr Keith McNally got his hands on this vestige of 1930s Greenwich Village, good things were to follow. As was his strong celebrity fanbase. Faces seen here include Mr Jerry Seinfeld, Ms Brooke Shields and Mr David Beckham. With a propensity for delivering a divine côte de boeuf, this Parisian-style steakhouse is furnished with not only crisp-linen-covered tables and striking checkerboard flooring, but also a gleaming Michelin star.
