Prohibition never quite got a foothold in Australia, but if it did then you imagine this is the sort of place that might have served as a speakeasy. The ingredients are all there: a completely unmarked door (it’s in a basement under the restaurant Bread & Bone), it’s cave-dark, there’s an art deco theme (stylishly updated in this case) and a selection of strong, grown-up cocktails – they change seasonally, too, so you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get.
