We know from experience that a summer wardrobe is not an easy thing to get right. But our Style Director, Mr Olie Arnold, makes it look effortless. To assist you in your planning and prepping, we called upon him to share his expertise and shine a light on the pieces from our own-label Mr P. he’ll be adding to his warm-weather wardrobe – and that he recommends you do, too.

“Swimwear that can be worn out of the pool are always high on my list for holidays. By putting them to use in and out of the water, you’ll also save room while packing, so there’s more space for other essentials such as hats and an extra pair of sandals. If I’m lucky enough to get away to somewhere hot this summer, these will be my go-to – I’m a big fan of stripes.”

“The great thing about coordinating items is that they open up a host of wardrobe possibilities. For an especially strong look, I’ll be wearing this shirt with the matching swimmers I’ve already got packed, but I’ll also mix and match it solo, wearing it over a T-shirt and teamed with a pair of tailored linen trousers.”

“Comfortable sneakers are a necessity for summers in the city – as much as I’d like to, I can’t very well wear sandals everywhere, after all. Choose some in a neutral colour way, like this panelled canvas and suede pair, and you can wear them with just about everything.”

“The arrival of summer doesn’t mean smartness goes entirely out the window but it can be hard to look sharp when you’re sweltering. Pleated, cropped trousers in a lightweight fabric are the solution. Wear them with a tee during the day and add an unstructured blazer over the top when night falls.”

“I’m a big fan of adding splashes of colour to my summer wardrobe, but never in a showy way. Picking the right piece and pairing it with more neutral colours is my preferred option. This resist-dyed cotton and linen blouson has its very own sun-bleached effect and the dusky pink shade will work perfectly with navy chinos and my trusty sandals.”
