Five Sophisticated New Grooming Products To Try Now

Words by Mr Ashley Clarke

We’re sure we don’t need to tell you this, but the modern man’s grooming routine comprises more than just cleansing and moisturising. If you’re doing it right, a carefully curated grooming regimen can be an effective tool with which to enrich your day. MR PORTER’s grooming range is an ever expanding universe of brilliance. From an incense holder in the shape of a cloudy monster to a super-effective obsidian roller for tired eyes, here are a few things that are new to us that can brighten up your routine, your home and, of course, your face.

01. EISENBERG PARIS

Welcome to EISENBERG PARIS’s world of high-end French skincare, where the creams melt into the skin like water and moisturisers smell faintly of a tasteful but expensive Parisian department store. Fortified with its patented Trio-Molecular® Formula, a blend of ingredients 15 years in the making that regenerates and energises skin, EISENBERG’s selection of products is reliably effective without being overcomplicated and its small but expertly curated selection of products has plenty of fans. The Youth Elixir, a greenish gold gel that gives skin an instant hit of hydration to make it gleam, is a firm favourite with the MR PORTER team.

02. 19-69

Named after a year that many people see as a cultural turning point, 19-69’s thing is all about free love and beauty across borders and will take you straight back to the intoxicating freedom of a Woodstock summer, even if you were never there. Its fragrances are genderless, each one intended to conjure up a specific place or era. Rainbow Bar, with its warm heady mix of bourbon, bergamot and vetiver, drives you straight down the West Coast to Sunset Strip, gets you drunk and shows you a good time. Well, almost.

03. L’Objet

Founded by interior designer Mr Elad Yifrach, L’Objet creates beautiful, artful pieces that will add personality and surrealism to your living space. Its Lito candle is more like a work of art and a veritable keepsake. It burns with vetiver scent that’s deliciously fresh and is adorned with the ancient symbol of the evil eye to bring good luck. The pièce de résistance, though, is surely the Haas Monster Incense Holder. Created in collaboration with Los Angeles artists Messrs Simon and Nikolai Haas, it’s a strangely captivating piece of work. “I recommend lighting the incense under the monster’s porcelain torso,” says Mr Yifrach. “As the incense smoulders, its fragrant smoke will be released through the creature’s brass horns.”

04. Augustinus Bader

What do you mean you haven’t heard of The Cream? Augustinus Bader’s plainly titled product has been making headlines over the past year and has amassed a cult following, thanks to its wondrous results. I’ve been using it for the past four months and while I haven’t aged backwards, my skin certainly looks bright and healthy. The selling point here is that, if you’re using The Cream, you don’t really need anything else, such are its potent and efficacious anti-ageing and nourishing properties. The magnetic-snap bottle feels reassuringly expensive, as does the thick but easily absorbed product. If you’re on the fence, try the smaller bottle first to see how you get on, but be warned: you’ll be hooked.

05. Susanne Kaufmann

If you want to make your grooming routine more sustainable, placing holistically minded brand Susanne Kaufmann central to your bathroom cabinet is a good place to start. Made in Ms Susanne Kaufmann’s native Austria, most of the products come in glass bottles or jars, which are easily recyclable. When plastic is necessary, it’s of the recycled variety and sourced from Germany or Austria. Originally created when Ms Kaufmann opened her eponymous spa in the Alps, the product range is broad and includes bath oils and hand sanitising spray as well as sunscreen and shampoo, all made from active ingredients sourced from the forests of the Bregenzerwald of western Austria. Of particular note is the Obsidian Face Roller, a must-have – we don’t use that term lightly – tool for massaging the face to reduce swelling and improve circulation, thereby help skin look fresher and younger.
