We see MR PORTER as more than just an online shop. Yes, we have unparalleled editorial content, of course. But the products that we stock are also not your average selection. Far from it. Everything that we feature on site is the result of careful consideration. Despite the fact that we stock more than 400 brands, we see our offering as a select edit of items representative of the highest in quality and style. Every new brand we invite on site, therefore, is worth shouting about. But some brands stand out a little more than others. Spalwart, available on MR PORTER today, is one such brand – a footwear specialist making minimalist sneakers with a focus on classic design and quality.

This Swedish label was founded in 2010 by Messrs Christoffer Brattin and Fredrik E Johansson, who, during a visit to suppliers in Eastern Europe, came across a factory in Slovakia with machines and shoe moulds that had been unused since the 1950s. These moulds are now used in their production process to create retro-inspired sneakers described by Messrs Brattin and Johansson as “sport shoes for the street”. Each pair is lovingly finished by hand in a labour-intensive process. And we like them so much we bought nine styles. Our particular favourites? The Marathon Trail pair, crafted from off-white suede and quick-drying mesh, and set on tracked rubber soles. Shop the edit, below.
