THE JOURNAL

MR PORTER is not in the business of selling food. Our virtual shelves may sag with the weight of cashmere sweaters, diamond-encrusted watches and even silver caviar spoons, but you will find very little that can be ingested. And yet lobsters, strawberries, watermelons, ice cream and doughnuts are all over our site. It seems the world’s fashion designers have food on the brain this season, because it’s one of the overriding trends. Feeling hungry for some new clothes? Allow us to whet your appetite with five of our food-focused favourites.
01.
The ICECREAM cone T-shirt

Talk about 99 problems – few sights are more depressing than a dropped ice-cream cone. Imminent joy slapping the ground and melting into the pavement. If it’s ever happened to you, as a child or as an adult, we feel your pain. A much less depressing prospect is this delicious T-shirt by ICECREAM, an offshoot of the Billionaire Boys Club brand founded by Mr Pharrell Williams and Nigo. It’s cool, it’s colourful and, best of all, it won’t melt.
02.
The LOEWE doughnut shorts

Plastered with more sprinkle-covered doughnuts than Chief Wiggum’s patrol car, these ribbed cotton shorts by LOEWE are the sartorial equivalent of a sugar high. Brilliantly comfortable and great with a plain white T-shirt, they’ll be a head-turning addition to your summer wardrobe. And you can shout, “Eat my shorts!” at anyone who says otherwise.
03.
The Thom Browne lobster sweater

We’re not sure if the menswear designer Mr Thom Browne is a fan of lobster thermidor, but he might well be. Perhaps he has a pet lobster that he takes for a walk around Manhattan on a leash. Whatever the case, he likes lobsters enough to have put them on this charming wool sweater, which gives it a surreal nautical vibe.
04.
The Gucci strawberry coin wallet

Strawberries and Gucci go together like coffee and cream. Take a peek at this coin purse, which is monogrammed with the brand’s iconic logo and reinforced with brown leather trims to give it longevity. It has also been emblazoned with a tragicomedy set of cartoonish strawberries. Look – they’re acting!
05.
The PARADISE cola T-shirt

PARADISE makes some of the coolest T-shirts around. It decorates them with American iconography, magical creatures and meme-worthy prints. No points for guessing which drinks brand inspired this one. (It’s the real thing.) Anyone else feeling thirsty all of a sudden?
