There are few Japanese brands that have managed to make themselves more of an international success than Beams. Founded in 1976 in Harajuku, it is now one of the most influential menswear brands in the world, and has exerted its simple but effective aesthetic of menswear basics and Ivy League-inspired fashion in markets across the planet, reaching a point where it now feels more like a brand of the world than simply one rooted in its native Japan.
Still, we’re more than happy to include Beams Plus in The Japan Edit, a new project by MR PORTER in which we’ve partnered with 15 Japanese brands to create a capsule collection with each of them. “Bringing this calibre of talent together marks an unprecedented feat for MR PORTER,” said Mr Daniel Todd, our Senior Buyer.
As part of the Beams Plus capsule, the brand has created a range of sunny-looking wardrobe staples that are perfect for summer, and from the hefty “Mr Surf’’ T-shirt to the candy-checked tailoring and an ever-so-charming Harrington seersucker jacket, we can’t think of a better set of clothes to wear this summer. See below for our pick of six of our favourites.
