Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but they are also fair game for any man who wants to inject a healthy dose of bling into his look. Necklaces, earrings and bracelets can elevate even the simplest of looks. A white T-shirt and jeans might not look like much on their own, but sprinkle a few diamonds on your wrist or your neck and it’s a different story. Gemstones have the power to make an outfit, whether they come in the form of heirlooms, keepsakes or gifts from loved ones that mark special occasions or milestones.
Take new crooner on the block, Giveon. Having just released Give Or Take, his first full-length album of soul-wrenching, melodic rhythm and blues, and with Grammy-nominated tracks with industry giants Drake and Mr Justin Bieber under his belt, his on- and off-duty looks have caught MR PORTER’s eye.
Topped off with diamonds, pearls and other precious stones layered in sparkling abundance, Giveon’s red-carpet appearances and music videos pull looks from Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta. At home, he rotates thrifted T-shirts, double denim and oversized varsity jackets.
He has dazzled at the Met Gala. First, as a guest of Valentino in a head-to-toe teal ensemble in 2021, and again this year, under the venerable wing of Chanel, when he sported a black tweed blouson embellished with pearls, a classic white shirt, black tuxedo trousers and boots polished to a high shine, decked out with three tiered necklaces, several rings and a chunky dress watch.
Here’s why that makes sense. Chanel, the Parisian powerhouse that was founded in 1910, is most famous for its women’s offerings, including ready-to-wear, accessories and fine jewellery. It has never made the full foray into menswear, but has peppered men’s looks in its catwalk shows for some time, recently modelled by modern Renaissance man Mr Pharrell Williams.
Giveon is now a glistering example of how to wear fine jewellery. He is living proof that a man’s jewellery box is now the most important part of his wardrobe. Ms Coco Chanel famously advised taking off one thing before you leave the house, but Giveon’s approach is the opposite.

Curb chains, dainty pearls, tennis bracelets, long pendants, chunky links, layered charms and diamond encrusted watches… You name it, Giveon is wearing it – and sometimes all at once. His favourite brands range from Cartier to Chrome Hearts, Tiffany & Co to John Hardy and now Chanel.
What is notable about the way he styles his jewellery is that he sticks to a single metal, mostly silver and white diamonds. This matches the hardware on his jacket buttons, zips and belt buckles and shows an attention to detail that is oh so precise but easy to replicable.
