Gone are the days when an all-black outfit was associated with goths, black metal fans or characters from The Matrix. Today, we don’t need to hear Jay-Z rap “black cars, black cards, all black everything” to be convinced of its cultural clout – just look at any red carpet or celebrity style round-up for proof of the black ensemble’s enduring allure.
