Mr Johannes Huebl makes dressing well look easy. Regarded as one of the most stylish men in the world, the model has an elegant, effortless approach to menswear, which has made him into something of a global tastemaker. Given half the chance, we reckon many men would leap at the opportunity to emulate his unfussy style, which is why we think his new project is something to shout about.

Mr Huebl has collaborated with beachwear brand Frescobol Carioca to create a craft-centric capsule collection that fuses his own style signatures with the playful Brazilian influences synonymous with the brand’s offering. The collection takes its cues from the German model’s personal wardrobe as well as his happy places around the globe, dotted around the Mediterranean. Of course, it’s no accident that these destinations are notoriously sun-soaked; Frescobol is renowned for its Rio-inspired swimwear, which makes this partnership a natural fit.

“Frescobol Carioca’s style really overlapped with mine, so it was really easy,” says Mr Huebl. “We wanted to introduce tailored pieces into the resort-wear looks to create a really nice compact travel collection that also mixes well with each other.”

The result is a suitcase-friendly collection that includes everything from swimwear and shirts to lightweight blazers in refined fabrics. Also in the mix are wardrobe stalwarts including camp-collar and cotton shirts and chinos as well as those standout tailoring pieces that Mr Huebl mentioned: deconstructed blazers in Italian-milled linen and tactile seersucker, which mark a first for the beachy brand.

Ultimately, the capsule is about choice and wearability, says Mr Huebl, who proves himself more than capable of tailoring the collection to every social occasion he cares to imagine (yet another thing he can do with some ease). “The off-white blazer is very easy,” he says. “You can wear it with navy trousers and pair with white sneakers for a garden party or cocktails.”

Thankfully, for those of us who aren’t lucky enough to currently be lounging in paradise, the collection is also incredibly versatile, and would work as well in the city as on the coast: “If you put the denim shirt under the blue blazer, it immediately has an Amalfi or Riviera look to it,” says Mr Huebl. “The tailored pieces are very light, unconstructed, they have this airy resort feeling that you can also wear very well in London, Florence or New York.”

The model has been on a journey with colour for the line, too. “Friends of mine have always laughed at me because I’ve always been safe,” he admits. “My more fashionable friends wear bright colours. They tell me, ‘Listen, it’s OK if you range out a bit.’ I used to be into the greys, the blues, the beiges.”

This capsule collection doesn’t venture too far from these trusty confines, but does add some character with shades of military green, navy and off-white, reflecting Mr Huebl’s updated personal palette. Still, he hasn’t gone overboard. “This collection is subtle, it’s not in your face. It’s timeless. It’s an elegant wardrobe for men like me who don’t have the guts to wear orange,” he says, laughing.

Working on the collection was, however, no joke. Mr Huebl consulted far and wide with fashionable friends and industry colleagues. His wife, the model and entrepreneur Ms Olivia Palermo, proved a reliable critic, he says. And he found another champion very close to home. “I showed the collection to my older brother, Philipp, a philosopher who still likes clothing,” Mr Huebl qualifies. “He looked at it and said, ‘I want everything’.”

Chances are you will, too. With all things Mr Huebl, it’s that easy.
