What’s New: Fear Of God Essentials Kidswear

Mention “the next generation” at the moment and you probably mean Gen Z – those kids known for capitalising on TikTok, hating on millennials for their bad hair and ugly jeans, and making their baby boomer grandparents feel like veritable fossils. Still, it’s only a matter of time before the kids leading the conversation now get usurped by the younger, hungrier generation coming up the stairs behind them.

Generation Alpha – that’s babies born between 2010 and 2025 – are only in their infancy, but they’ll be the ones taking over next. As well as being the most educated generation ever, it’s predicted that they’ll grow up being familiar with AI. So, it’s only natural that these tiny disruptors will need to look the part – which is where Fear of God Essentials’ new kidswear line comes in.

Mr Jerry Lorenzo’s LA-based brand Fear of God has, in its relative youth (it was founded in 2013), managed to capture a whole generation of fashion obsessives with its cosily stylish approach to streetwear. The Essentials collection – started by Lorenzo as a more accessible entry point to the brand, and which the kidswear sits under – is made up of wearable basics in a neutral palette that are easy to style, even if you’re a six-year old.

From black hoodies to amber-coloured tees and sweat shorts complete with the iconic FOG dangling strings, this is probably the coolest thing a child could wear. You’re never too young to start working on your drip – for the fossils reading, that’s youngspeak for looking good – and it’s out on MR PORTER today, so consider this a head start.
