What do we mean by Consciously Crafted?
First launched in 2021, Consciously Crafted (formerly known as the Craftsmanship Code) is a curated selection of products made by brands and designers who are working towards reducing their environmental impact, by putting the planet and its people first.
Consciously Crafted is a celebration of responsible design in its many guises, with pieces that our customers will want to keep for years to come, made in ways that reduce their impact on the world around us. It’s about shining a light on products and makers with character, provenance and purpose, while honouring heritage artisanal techniques and innovative technologies.
Beyond the existing quality standards that bring together all labels stocked on MR PORTER, our Consciously Crafted edit requires brands and products to meet one or more of our newly updated criteria: Lower-Impact Materials, Responsible Craftsmanship and Designed for Circularity.
Our own label, Mr P., is at the forefront of our approach to long-lasting style. By partnering with a small network of trusted manufacturers and craftspeople, the brand ensures that every item is created without compromise, working towards its entire collection meeting one or more of our sustainability attributes by 2025.
