7 Statement T-Shirts To Refresh Your Summer Rotation

Few staples are more reliable than a good-quality T-shirt. And come summertime, that’s the one thing you need to take any casual look to the next level – whether it’s jeans, chinos, shorts or swimwear, a well-chosen tee up top can instantly add pizzazz to your warm-weather outfits. Once you’ve taken the main factors in consideration (fabric, fit, cut and neckline among them), don’t shy away from bold prints and patterns, or even logos – summer’s the best time to have a bit of fun with what you wear, after all. With that in mind, we’ve hand-picked seven tees to refresh your rotation.

01. The Cherry Los Angeles retro-style T-shirt
This tee by Cherry Los Angeles is perfect for a road trip through the US – or to pack for any holiday you have coming up. Exclusively available at MR PORTER, it’s illustrated with a retro “Hollywood Mile” print on the back, as well as a couple of the brand’s monikers in the kind of vintage Americana font that we’ve come to expect from the label.

02. The Gucci logo tee
Gucci has updated its monogram numerous times over the past few years. However, the interlocking Gs emblem on this T-shirt – alongside the red and green stripes, nodding to the label’s equestrian roots – is by far one of our favourites. It’s made from plush cotton jersey and designed for a slightly boxy fit, so pair yours with slim jeans or shorts.

03. The Rhude summer-ready T-shirt
Longing for a holiday, but spending summer in the city? Rhude’s exclusive T-shirt will transport you to a peaceful beach with swaying palms and crashing waves. It’s cut in an effortlessly cool silhouette, with dropped shoulder seams that emphasise the relaxed, boxy fit.

04. The Burberry equestrian crew neck
If you’re looking for something that’s instantly recognisable, but isn’t as loud as a classic logo, look no further than Burberry’s crew neck. It’s printed with the creative director Mr Daniel Lee's updated version of the house's Equestrian Knight motif, which was first crowdsourced from a public competition in 1901.

05. The SAINT Mxxxxxx faded-style anime tee
SAINT Mxxxxxx’s T-shirt is the result of the collaboration between the LA brand and the creators of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the 1990s series widely regarded as one of the best anime of all time. Slightly faded for a broken-in look, it’s printed with all the cult show’s most-loved characters, as well as the label’s logo across the back.

06. The BODE embroidered T-shirt
Craftsmanship-centred label BODE draws inspiration from vintage cloths and needlework samples to bring its hand-finished creations to life. Such is the case with this red T-shirt featuring a pair of parakeets. The zigzag stitching along the neck, hem and sleeves frames it elegantly and gives it an artful yet homespun feel.

07. The Americana-inspired KAPITAL T-shirt
Whenever we think of Japanese brand KAPITAL, two things immediately come to mind – mid-century Americana and smiley faces. This boxy, oversized T-shirt is a great example of both. The label’s emblem is seamlessly worked into the signature bandana pattern on the sleeve.
