The Spring T-Shirt Edit
Words by Lucy Kingett
26 March 2024

When it comes to transitioning our wardrobes for the new season – or simply treating ourselves to a few new pieces, whatever the excuse – the humble T-shirt is sometimes overlooked in favour of heftier investment items. And while we do advise setting yourself up with a year-round base rotation of essential tees in a neutral palette, overlooking this category when looking for new inspiration would be a missed opportunity. Especially given the T-shirt-adjacent occasions coming up, namely, those long-awaited spring city breaks and summer holidays. Consequently, we’ve scoured the latest arrivals to bring you an edit of the cream of the crop of spring tees – take your pick and feel suitably refreshed and ready for a spritz.

01. The spring staple Auralee tee
Guess what? Basics don’t need to be black, white, grey or navy. And what better hue to celebrate the solstice than a true spring green. The real selling point here, however, is the supreme softness, lustrous finish and pleasing weight of the cotton, which are thanks to the fabric’s long pima fibres and plaiting construction. Team with other earthy neutrals or fresh whites and bring a green-apple-scented breath of fresh air to your look.

02. The logo LOEWE T-shirt
It’s true, flashy logos can be crass, but when chosen thoughtfully they add creative interest to simple outfits. We tend to avoid too much gaudy display in favour of simple, graphic treatments from our favourite brands, for which we are happy to show some allegiance. Always classy, LOEWE’s attractive logo is here finely embroidered in tonal deep blue over the chest.

03. The striped Jil Sander tee
We all – and we mean all – need a well-crafted, timeless striped T-shirt in the closet. Jil Sander’s example is cut from soft, heavyweight cotton in a relaxed fit with loose, almost elbow-length arms, meaning it pairs particularly well with wide-leg or regular-fit trousers. The appliqué logo label between the shoulder blades is a nice IYKYK branding touch.

04. The patterned Dries Van Noten T-shirt
For print and pattern, look no further than Dries Van Noten. The abstract, almost hallucinogenic print and dip-dyed hem of this slim-fitting, lightweight cotton-jersey tee bring to mind rippling pools, smoky sunsets and heatwaves. In short, the high-summer daze of those vacations we’ve been dreaming about.

05. The luxurious Loro Piana T-shirt
Of course, a T-shirt doesn’t have to be constructed from cotton. Loro Piana – who else? – offers us this elegant tee in a specially milled blend of silk and linen. The combination results in a fine, fluid fabric that pools and drapes artfully, pairing just as well with tailoring and smarter pieces as with sleek shorts for warm-weather lunches.

06. The perfect oversized T-shirt
Trust pared-back Parisian brand LEMAIRE to craft the perfect chic white tee. Cut from a cool cotton and linen-blend jersey (in, actually, creamy off-white), it features a wide neck, dropped sleeves and oversized chest pocket. Wear with denim for an effortless off-duty look, or with shorts and Birkenstock sandals as soon as you can.
