Light and bright styles to see you through the season.
Sneakers in summer, you say? Aren’t they just the same sneakers you wore in winter? Well, no, no they are not. Or at least they shouldn’t be. Because summer is a time for low-tops, lightweight materials, bold colours and breathability. Summer is your best opportunity to wear suede without walking around with soggy feet all day. You need a shiny new pair of kicks you can wear sans socks, which work as well on a weekend away as they do in the city. But which should you invest in? Decisions, decisions… In order to find the best examples of summer sneakers, we sifted through all the styles we have on site, and came up with the three below. They’re all bright, fun and summery – and, we think you’ll agree, there is a nice point of difference between them, so hopefully there’s something for everyone. Pick up a pair and give your mood a lift.

THE PINK ONES
I think “they” call this “millennial pink”. Who’s “they”, you ask? Well, anyone who likes to brand their hues. Including The Guardian, which described the colour as “a grapefruit shade of apricotty salmon” – which we think sums up it up rather well. This shade is having moment in the worlds of design and fashion right now, and you can combine them conveniently in these oh-so-summery sneakers by Common Projects. But, at the risk of overdoing the whole “millennial” thing (we assume most people reading this are over 17 years old), make sure you wear these with something a little more mature, such as these classic chinos.

THE GREEN ONES
If peach leather isn’t your thing, perhaps emerald suede is. Valentino has been lending its cult design skills to sneakers for some time, and the results have always been rather creative. Think: a mix of materials, patterns and a lot of camouflage. Clearly, you can tell these are very much made by Valentino. Look at those silver studs. Turn them over and you’ll see the brand’s signature camouflage. But the vibe we get from this pair of sneakers is more “retro skater” than “fashion-forward hipster”. And we’re all for it.

THE GREY ONES
And now for something a little more subdued. But no less exciting. (We don’t get out much.) Or summery. Because, made from light-grey canvas, these Nikes are much easier on the eye than the white or black sneakers you have in your wardrobe, and feel like they were made for warm, bright weather. And, given their subtle appearance, you can be a little bit bolder elsewhere in your outfit. So why not try this tropical-print shirt on for size?
