Mr Jude Law stars in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label film, The Gentleman’s Wager II
In celebration of Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s latest film, we meet a series of men whose gratitude binds them together.
When the irascible meets the incorrigible, one can expect the unexpected. And so it is with Messrs Jude Law and Giancarlo Giannini in Johnnie Walker® Blue Label’s The Gentleman’s Wager II, as they find themselves engaged in a race against time, only on this occasion it’s for Mr Giannini’s “prized possession”, a Delahaye 135S classic racing car. To earn the spoils, all Mr Law has to do is drive the car from Rome to Monaco in 20 hours. Simple. Only the car hasn’t seen a road in more than 40 years…
What plays out is both a breathtaking journey across the Mediterranean and a series of serendipitous encounters through which Mr Law proves that happiness is contagious when it’s expressed through spontaneous acts of kindness and gratitude. Fuel will get you to the finish line, but as Johnnie Walker says, “joy will take you further”.

Artistic duo Messrs Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin explain how they work (and play) over a glass of Johnnie Walker Blue Label
Inspired by the film, MR PORTER went in search of people and partnerships that tell similar stories of reciprocation, collaboration and a journey shared – both professional and personal. These men exemplify that; if something can’t be done with a smile on your face, then it’s probably not worth doing at all. In each film, to express their gratitude to one another, they make a fitting gesture: a toast with a glass of Johnnie Walker Blue Label™.
